Before becoming La Maison de la Lavande<\/strong>, it was called the “Des Arredons” sheepfold and belonged to C\u00e9sar Brun, the grandfather of today’s owners. In the 1940s, the herds grazed in the area and the lavender was harvested by hand before being dried. It was then taken to the distillery to collect the essential oils. The sheepfold was taken over in the 1990s and restored. The “Lavender Museum” was founded and opened to the public in 2002.<\/p>\n Thirteen years later, C\u00e9sar Brun’s descendants acquired it and the Lavender Museum became the “Domaine Lavandais – Lavender Museum<\/strong> \u00bb. Many improvements have been made, such as the installation of an ice cream bar, an educational beehive, a play area for children, or the setting up of a Little Train route through the lavender fields. Finally, at the end of 2020, the estate will be renamed “Maison de la Lavande \u00bb.<\/p>\n You can enjoy a guided tour, where your guide will tell you all about the mysteries of lavender and show you the three different varieties of this plant. The Little Train ride will appeal to children and parents alike and will give you the opportunity to photograph the lavender that stretches as far as the eye can see around you. After your walk in the fields, you can go and discover the stills room, where you can admire a number of instruments from another era used to distil lavender.<\/p>\n Then witness the distillation of lavender essential oil using a traditional extraction technique. Then discover the botanical garden of the Domaine. This is the perfect opportunity to relax in the shade of the trees around a picnic table. The House of Lavender<\/strong> offers you more surprises.
